Getting to or from the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) from downtown Vancouver is about a 20 minute car ride and not much more by public transport thanks to the Canada Line, opened in August 2009.

Getting from downtown Vancouver to the Vancouver International Airport (& back):

Public Transit: The Canada Line has made getting to and from the Vancouver Airport by public transportation easy and affordable. This rapid rail service connects Metro Vancouver's busiest north-south corridor, linking downtown to Richmond and Vancouver International Airport. As of 2009, an adult fare from YVR to downtown Vancouver was under CAD$4. Access to the Canada Line is from within the airport terminal.

Taxis: A taxi ride to the Vancouver International Airport from a downtown Vancouver hotel should take about 20 mins and cost Cdn$25 under normal conditions. A $3+ tip on top of this is standard.

Courtesy Shuttle: The Vancouver International Airport offers complimentary transit between the airport and many hotels. The courtesy shuttle services numerous Richmond hotels and two downtown Vancouver hotels. If your hotel is not one of these, call and ask if your hotel does have a courtesy airport shuttle.

Airporter formerly offered scheduled bus service from YVR but stopped operating in September 2009.
