Toronto weather in winter is in fact milder than most Canadian cities, yet still cold and snowy. The cold can be especially biting because of the wind-chill factor.

Most snowfall occurs from December through March, with an annual average of 133 cm (52 in). Snowstorms can be sudden and intense and affect traffic and air travel.

Sidewalks can get quite icy during the winter, so proper footwear is recommended.

Other items visitors may want to pack are warm, waterproof clothing and accessories like hat, mitts, scarf, sunglasses (glare from snow can be intense), umbrella. Read more about How to Dress for Winter.
