Toronto and Montreal are two of the most popular Canadian destinations and make the itineraries of many travellers here. These cities are however a six hour drive from one another - often more - as traffic getting in and out of these two metropolitan areas can be ugly.
If you want to find a night's stay mid-way, you have a few options.
If you're just looking for a night's sleep off the highway, try the Hampton Inn in Napanee, Ontario. It's around $100 a night (plus taxes) and offers free breakfast, WiFi and a pool.
Join the Hilton loyalty program and you may save enough points for a stay at one of the Hilton's more prestigious properties (Toronto, Montreal and Quebec City all have excellent Hilton hotels).
Other options for stays between Montreal and Toronto are Prince Edward County (farther off the highway but totally charming) and Kingston
