2008 Rogers Chinese Lantern Festival

Wednesday July 2, 2008
The Rogers Chinese Lantern Festival in Toronto will open July 31. This celebration of Chinese craftsmanship and culture will light up the Ontario Place waterfront until October 12, 2008.

This Chinese Lantern Festival is the largest lantern festival to take place outside Asia and one of the most impressive presentations of its kind in North America. The installations can be as high as 50 feet and as long as 300 feet. This year's festival will see its theme increased in scope to include lanterns reflecting animals, dinosaurs and architectural wonders from around the world.

The festival is not only a feast for the eyes, but visitors' tastebuds are in for a treat as well, with vendors serving up traditional Chinese fare. Acrobatic shows, merchandise and movies are part of the lineup as well.

$25 is too expensive for tickets. That price really shuts out a lot of people from attending the event.

(4) Chris Lee says:

That is quite expensive. The lanterns are beautiful from the Gardiner, but to shell out $50 for the privilege of seeing them closer for an hour or two seems excessive.

(5) L. Simovic says:

If you obtain a copy of the Attractions Ontario booklet, there is a $3 off coupon (inside the booklet for the festival) good for up to 6 admissions.
The booklet is available at most Ontario travel office locations (or try calling 1-800-Ontario or visit http://www.attractionsontario.ca)or you can check the closest tourism information office in your region for a copy. Since they came out in May, copies may be harder to find during the summer.

I think it is too far away from the public transit. A long walk for the seinios especially at night time.

Ontario Place and Latern Festival entrance ticket price seperated? What’s the total if we want to hang out in Ontario place then move on to Latern Fest. later evening?

(8) gocanada says:

The tickets for the lantern festival are separate from Ontario Place, so if you have tickets for the rides and attractions at Ontario Place, you still need to buy Rogers Lantern Festival tickets.

I get a coupon for $18.00 admission at the Spadina Street Festival held in August. Also the Chinese Cultural Centre in Toronto offers a discount.

I have been going to the Chinese Lantern Festival since it started. I like doing photography as i have taken quite alot of pictures at this event.
I have a new camera now and the best year was last year as I have taken much more clearer shots.
I must say that $25.00 is way too much to be charged for this event.I got in as a senior so I only paid $13.00. I am 58 yrs. But even at senior prices it is too much.It is only plastic fiqures lit up that’s all……
